
(NPR / All Things Considered) — A Wisconsin university has found a new way to cut costs with e-mail — by changing the font. The University of Wisconsin, Green Bay has switched the default font on its e-mail system from Arial to Century Gothic. Free Music When I Want it. And as LOUD as I Want it!

“You must love working for yourself.” I hear this frequently from friends and colleagues. And to be honest, it is pretty great, and not simply for all the obvious reasons. It’s all about the music for me. That’s right, I can listen to whatever type of music I want, when I want to, and as LOUD as I want to. I don’t care how alternative the work environment, you can’t do that at most jobs.
While I could turn the volume to 11 and share my devotion to the Foo Fighters with the neighborhood, I don’t’. I do actually need to get work done. For me, music is a companion or friend. I’m often alone most days working away and music becomes inspiration. In most work places, you might look to conversation with a colleague for inspiration. When I need a boost, I change the style of music. I’m surrounded by music all day, and it is certainly a fringe benefit of working for Big Heart Design.
